    As you guys were following (and joining in on) my detox progress via Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn a few weeks ago, I was much more interested in yours and all I could say is WOW.

    Shopping on a budget. But then it isn’t so hard when you look. Found a great wholesale Veg/fruiters that sell retail at fantastic prices, good value and superior quality. Five kilos of winter root veg for £2.50 ! Gazpacho heaven. Five carrier bags comes to around £15 per week. Found supermarkets very expensive and inferior.

    The results speak for themselves! People have asked me WOW how did you do that , I tell them, spend time with them explaining the benefits, the prep, the costs, the plan, only for them to say "oh no I couldn’t possibly do that, I don’t like nuts, veg, fruit, I can’t afford it, my partner won’t like it", bloody frustrating. So now I just say watching what I eat and comment no more! But they want to know more! As for cost, what price do you put on your health? I have to note I have done no physical activity, have not joined a gym, and have still lost FOUR stone [25.4 kg] in 2 months and I feel great. Thank you Tanya and keep up the good work

    I just received the Funky Raw magazine in the mail and guess whose article is published! Pretty exciting stuff, as I absolutely love this sweet and cherry positive-living mag and this edition being the first for 2011 is an especially good read...

    Not just because it has my TEN WAYS TO GET DETOXING TODAY article (hehe) but it contains many many inspirational stories, book and restaurant reviews, cartoons, helpful tips, news, upcoming events and recipes. It is a very enjoyable read and you can get your copy here






    Now that we are on the topic of publications and reviews, there is another article I have been meaning to share with you since the day it came out!

    Tacita Vero from BLUE TOMATO magazine attended one of my Raw Handmade Chocolate Workshops at Saf Restaurant and was so intrigued and excited about her latest discovery, she wanted everyone to know and made certain to write a review on the class.

    And since I just can't bring myself to leaving you with a foodless post, here is my famous curry recipe, that WILD FITNESS asked to share with their clients, after their CEO came to one of my workshops too...


    RAW FOOD CURRY IN A HURRY


    This one has been a huge hit at my Raw Foods for Winter Classes and it is also included in my book 'Purified- Your Complete 7 Day Detox Program', because of the special cleansing properties contained in the cauliflower, ginger, onion, garlic and cayenne. Enjoy.

    For the essentials
    Food Processor
    Blender

    For the 'Rice'
    1 Cauliflower
    1 Carrot

    For the Curry
    1 Cup Cashews
    2 Tomatoes
    10 Sundried tomato halves (soaked in warm water 10 mins)
    ½ Cup Dried Shredded Coconut
    ½ Avocado
    1/4 Red Onion
    1 inch Ginger
    1 Garlic clove
    2 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
    1 tsp Cayenne Pepper
    1 tsp Paprika
    1 tsp Turmeric
    1 tsp Cinnamon
    Water as needed

    For the Optional bites
    Walnuts/ Flaked Almonds/ Sprouts, Fresh corriander to garnish

    -Roughly chop carrots and cauliflower and transfer to a food processor
    -Pulse, until finely diced and resembles rice.
    -In a blender put 1 cup cashews and 1 cup water. Blend really well until creamy.
    -Add all the remaining ingredients (apart from optional ingredients) and 1-1.5 cups water. Blend well.
    -[Note, you may need to pulse to make it easier on your blender or add more water]
    - Serve with either walnuts, sprouts or flaked almonds on cauliflower ‘rice’. Garnish with fresh coriander.

    11 ways to get detoxing today!

    In NZ with my family at Christmas time THREE years ago!

    Happy Boxing Day everyone! How are we all feeling? :) Come on, admit it, you could feel better right? :)

    New year is right around the corner and you could do with a little detox right about now, can't you? But do you know where to start?

    Well, I compiled 11 simple ways for you to get detoxing... today. Good Luck!

    1.    Eliminate stimulants. To get your metabolism and digestion working like magic, the first important thing is to avoid the highly addictive foods, that are also taking up all of your energy to digest it, such as meat, refined sugars, all processed foods and yes- alcohol.
    2.    Get your Green on. Green smoothies (that is 50% greens, like kale and parsley, 50% fruits and some water) are full of chlorophyll and fibre to renew your weak blood cells and help rid of the old ones.
    3.    Fibre it up. Speaking of fibre in smoothies, this is big part of detoxing, as that is exactly what you need for elimination. Eat plenty of whole foods, especially cabbage, broccoli, apricots, papaya, etc.
    4.    Sweat it out. Be it a sauna, Bikram yoga, hot tub or exercise, get those pores opened up and eliminating toxins via perspiration.
    5.    Mineralise. We have become so deficient in minerals, that not only have we forgotten the requirement for us to function well, but what our bodies are actually made of! Start by adding Superfoods, such as Spirulina, Goji Berries and Camu Camu (Vitamic C!!) to your diet.
    6.    Get Drunk. On water what else? Drinking a minimum of 2 litres filtered water a day will help flush out impurities and even suppress appetite.
    7.    Cleanse the colon. Imagine a waste pipe the same age as you that has not been cleaned, ever. Not a good image is it? This could be going on inside your colon, stopping you from absorbing all the amazing nutrients you are trying to fill your body with. Book a colonic irrigation or buy a enema home kit to speed up your detox.
    8.    Practice hydrotherapy. There is no better way to wake every cell in your body up and get energised for detoxification, than taking a really hot shower to thoroughly warm up, then switching to cold for 30 seconds, repeating 3 times.
    9.    Dry skin brush. Our largest body organ must be ready to release toxins when we do, so don’t let it be blocked up with dry skin cells, brush your skin before showering to also get your circulation up and even reduce cellulite.
    10.  Smile. Stress is highly toxic and blocks all functions of our bodies, from thinking clearly to digestion food and shedding the unwanted weight. Read inspiring books, breathe in fresh air and do whatever makes you happy.
    11.  Go Raw! Last but by far the most vital is to eat plenty (or even better ALL) of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and sprouts that have not been cooked. These foods have not had any of their nutrients diminished in the heating process and are full of enzymes to practically digest the food for you, leaving you with plenty of energy to detox properly and reclaim your youth in the process.
